choclate cake

Ingredients for cake:-
Flour: 1 and a half cups
Caster Sugar: 1 and a half cups
Eggs: 4
Cocoa powder: 4 heaped tablespoons
Baking Powder: 1 and a half teaspoons
Vanilla essence: 3-4 drops
Pinch of salt
Coffee: 1 and a half tablespoons
Butter: Measure out half a cup & then melt
oil: 1 cup

METHOD:
1.Mix the dry ingredients well.i.e. Flour, cocoa powder,
coffee, baking powder & pinch of salt.
2. Beat eggs till fluffy with electric beater. Add 3-4 drops
of vanilla essence.Add oil slowly whilst beating.Add melted
butter.Beat.Add sugar.Beat well.
3.Add half of the dry ingredients mixture & fold into the egg
mixture slowly.Once mixed, fold in the rest of the dry
ingredients.
4.Grease baking tin with butter.Add the mixture
5.Oven should be preheated at 225 degrees centigrade.Baking
time 35-40 mins.

Ingredients for the glaze:-
Butter: 1 ounce (which is equivalent to 1 & a half tbs)
Cocoa powder: 3 and a half tsp
water
Brown sugar: 4-5 tsp
Maple syrup: about 4 tbs
Method:
On very low heat, melt butter.Add cocoa & some water.Mix well
& make sure there are no lumps.Add brown sugar.Mix & then add
maple syrup.Thicken the mixture & stir continuously.If it is
lumpy, add some more water.The consistency shouldn't be too
thin or too thick.Cool slightly & then pour onto the baked
cake
Cake decoration:
Glaced cherries, silver cake pearls, jelly diamonds were all
used. Smarties or bunties can also be used.

One more thing; make sure you seive the flour before making
the recipe.
